Plot twist after eight years of investigations and hearings in the Mater Olbia case .

The prosecutor asked the judges of the Tempio Court for the acquittal of the entrepreneur Alessandro Marini, 48 years old, from Codrongianos, and the real estate developer Gigi Bardanzellu, 64 years old, from Olbia, both accused of having attempted alleged blackmail against of the sovereign wealth fund of Qatar and of the mayor of Olbia, Gianni Giovannelli.

The facts are described in the indictment demolished by the public prosecutor this afternoon in the Tempio courtroom.

Shortly before the signing of the agreement for the construction of the Mater Olbia, there is talk of May 2015, according to the original approach of the Gallura Prosecutor's Office, Marini and Bardanzellu would have used it as a blackmail weapon (against the Sovereign Fund of Qatar and the mayor of Olbia, Gianni Giovannelli) the threat of a lawsuit for adverse possession of an area close to the large Olbia hospital, in order to enter into the operation with a consortium of companies.

Eight years after the events, however, the Tempio Prosecutor's Office has radically changed its line.

According to the prosecutor, there was no conduct that could be classified as extortion. Alessandro Marini and Gigi Bardanzellu were kept under investigation and on trial for eight years, with personal and professional consequences.

Next December 20th the word will pass to the civil parties (Angelo Merlini and Agostinamgelo Marras) and to the defender of Marini and Bardanzellu, Giuseppe Murineddu.
