Two young men, LC and GC, were arrested red-handed by the State Police while working on a large marijuana plantation in the countryside of Fonni. On the land, located in a remote and difficult-to-access area, officers from the Nuoro Flying Squad discovered 4,500 cannabis plants, in full bloom and ready for harvest.

The raid took place on Saturday following an intensive investigative and surveillance effort, conducted with the assistance of Gavoi Police Station staff. The two arrested, caught red-handed while cutting and arranging plants for drying, are charged with illegal cultivation of narcotics.

According to the analysis, the inflorescences contained or a high percentage of THC, exceeding 2 percent, confirming the substance's destination for the illicit market. The harvest, once processed, would have yielded approximately half a quintal of marijuana, with an estimated economic value of hundreds of thousands of euros.

The two young men, represented by lawyer Marco Lisu, were placed under house arrest by order of the investigating judge. The investigation, coordinated by the Nuoro Public Prosecutor's Office, is headed by Public Prosecutor Martina Varagnolo. This morning, the two suspects appeared before the investigating judge for preliminary hearing.
