There are also two twenty-year-old Sardinians among the new 29 “Alfieri della Repubblica” awarded by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella. These are young people who, in 2024, have distinguished themselves in their studies, in cultural, scientific, artistic, sports activities, in volunteering or have performed acts inspired by civic sense, altruism and solidarity.
On the Island they received the certificate from the Head of State:
- CLAUDIA PAIS , born in 2006, resident in Sassari , with this motivation: «For the commitment as a volunteer that she now pours into the benefit of younger children, after having received help in a difficult period of her life» . Claudia – explains the Quirinale – began attending the “Punto Luce” of Save the Children in 2013, at a time of great family fragility. The association has become an important point of reference for her and her family, so much so that it has guided her choices for the future. Claudia, in fact, dreams of working with children . In the meantime, she is committed as a volunteer at Punto Luce, giving back part of the good that she has received and that has allowed her to grow by overcoming difficulties».
- MARTA VIRDIS , born in 2005, resident in Villanova Monteleone, «for the generosity and strength of her commitment as a volunteer. The energy with which she works for the most vulnerable is contagious and is a driving force in the community» . «Marta – we read in the note released by the Colle – is a young volunteer of the Misericordie of Sassari, where she works as a rescuer qualified for the 118 service and civil protection . With her strong sensitivity, she is always on the front line in organizing events for the most vulnerable people. Last year Marta organized a fundraiser to allow very expensive treatments for a little girl in her community, involving many other children and associations in the area. Marta is a precious example of how solidarity and service can instill hope in the entire community».
