“Manos de Fainas pro s'affidu”, Ittiri relives the rites of the ancient marriage

The Itifallico Cultural Association led by president Vincenzo Ortu has organised, for Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 November , “ Manos de Fainas pro s'affidu ” - Ittirese wedding rites in the 1950s, which will see the artistic direction of Massimiliano Marongiu Trini.
An event that will take place in the historic center of the town of Coros, in the neighborhood between Piazza Umberto and Piazza Olmi , where some houses that had been uninhabited for years have been cleaned and rearranged.
For the occasion, an old grocery store, “Sa Butega de Tiu Ser evinu Cossu”, will reopen its doors in the same premises and with a good part of the furnishings of the time.
An ancient "Su Buteghinu" bar will be set up, and in the streets of the neighborhood the "Pitzinnos in carrela" children will be able to play with the ancient games of that period, thanks to the proposal organized by the Cooperativa Manitese of Ittiri.
There will also be the ecological pedal carousel Ecocarosello by Beppe Cugusi. The ancient tubs of Binza Funtana, the "public washing machine" for decades of entire generations, where wool was washed for the making of mattresses and pillows for the newlyweds, were cleaned and brought back into use at least for the occasion. Thanks to the partnership with the Ittiri Theater Company which for years, through refined but at the same time hilarious theatrical pieces, tells, cross-sections of Ittiri society, an excerpt from the theatrical comedy “Male chi si cheret issa mai remediu b'appat” will be shown in the ancient tanks ”.
The highlight will be November 19th, the wedding day, "S'affidu": some vintage cars of the period will be positioned along the wedding procession , made available by the association Il Volante Club Sassari, by Giuseppe Cannoni and Laura Faedda .
There will be the dressing of the bride, the blessing of the bride and groom from their respective families, and the wedding procession up to the parish of San Pietro in Vincoli will receive the blessing at the initiative.
Waiting for the newlyweds in their home are the mothers, who will give their blessing by breaking the plate. The celebrations will follow with "su tratamentu" refreshments, based on biscuits and rosoliu. The dances of those years will play with the music of Tony and Piera.
