Work has begun on the recovery of the most important nuraghe in Mandas . The project approved by the municipal council includes a series of interventions aimed at the recovery and complete arrangement of the archaeological area and the nuraghe in the Su Angiu locality.

This is a large investment (estimated expenditure: 420,000 euros) which will allow the implementation of a series of study and valorization projects of the important nuragic complex planned by the Municipality and the Archaeological Superintendence.

The Su Angiu area (also called Bangiu), due to its size and structure, is considered among the most important nuragic sites in Trexenta . Various finds have been found inside which attest to the continuous presence of man starting from the Nuragic period: the highlight is the bronze votive ship kept in the Archaeological Museum of Cagliari.

«I am particularly satisfied, but above all excited, by what our important nuragic site offers every day in terms of discoveries and historical testimonies», says mayor Umberto Oppus .

There are many objects found in recent excavation activities in the nuraghe displayed in the new Museum of Mandas, created by the Municipality precisely to give visibility to the finds belonging to the numerous nuragic areas scattered throughout the territory.

The objective is to promote knowledge of the country's historical heritage and ensure the best conditions for its use and public enjoyment.
