Historical memory of Mandas, Aunt Teresa celebrated the century of age. At the registry office Teresa Barbara Natalina Saba, the grandmother of the upper Trexenta village received from the mayor Umberto Oppus the souvenir parchment in which the birth certificate is reproduced: "Having seen the civil status registers of the Municipality of Mandas, it is certified that on February 20, 1923, at 4.30 pm in the house located in Terra Arrubia by Francesco Saba and Francesca Pitzalis, a little girl was born who was given the names of Teresa Barbara Natalina Saba”.
The mayor brought the wishes of the entire community to his grandmother, accompanied by the regional councilor for agriculture and agro-pastoral reform Valeria Satta who was in Mandas to meet local representatives of the agricultural business world and did not miss the opportunity to congratulate the new centenarian. "My best birthday wishes and congratulations on her tenacity and perseverance go to her," said councilor Satta.
A special day that Aunt Teresa celebrated in the home of Gianfranco Gessa and Licia Pingiori, the people who have taken care of her since her sister Cesira died – she found herself living alone. Fatherless since they were children, the sisters Teresa and Gesira for a long time ran a tailor's shop in the village. «They were skilled seamstresses – recalls the mayor Oppus -, strong and stubborn women, a symbol of the industriousness of our community».
The neo-centenarian is in good health, she reads L'Unione Sarda every day, pausing in particular on the pages of national and regional politics and on articles in the local news.
