Great excitement for the return to the city of a circus tent (without animals) after 3 years. For the first time in Sardinia, the Teatro nelle Foglie lands with its beautiful black and white marquee, in the courtyard of the Maria Immacolata primary school, with access in via Pascoli, in the center of Alghero.
It is the novelty of the seventh edition of the Mamatita Festival 2023 curated by SpazioT which thus continues the activation of an urban regeneration process that began in 2021 and which provides for the "restitution" of public space to the community. The Mamatita Festival promises to be a particularly intense edition, with a program that includes contemporary circus performances and street theater for all ages, with many national and international companies.
Conceived and organized by SpazioT with the contribution of the Ministry of Culture, the Sardinia Region, the Alghero Foundation, the Sardinia Foundation and the Sassari Chamber of Commerce, the Municipalities of Alghero and Putifigari, the Mamatita Festival kicked off on 30 August to finish on 9 September. Compared to past editions concentrated in 11 days, the seventh edition of the Mamatita Festival welcomes in Sardinia exclusively and for the first time the Catalan company Cia Pau Palaus, the Franco-Spanish company Las Polis, the chapiteau and the poetry of the Theater in the Leaves and the Swiss acrobats of Collectif Acrocinus. A welcome return to the festival of Céline Brynart - circus artist of the Belgian duo Le Motasse - who, produced by Theater En Vol, presents her work clown. Lucrezia Maimone (Oltrenotte) and Nadia Addis are the other two Sardinian artists guests of the festival, which also includes an evening of tango under the big top curated by SpazioTango. The Mamatita Festival 2023 confirms the participation of L'Albero del Macramè, specialized in circus-social activities, excellence on the national scene in the field of balance teaching through the use of the unicycle.
