Security wasn't on the agenda , yet Cagliari's mayor, Massimo Zedda , recently raised a crucial issue: the nightlife in the city center . The meeting at the Prefecture, with the Prefect and the Police Chief, had been scheduled to discuss the upcoming major events that will see the city as a key player on the island, from the feast of Sant'Efisio to the America's Cup. But on the sidelines of the summit , Cagliari's mayor, Massimo Zedda, emphasized the issue of security in the city center, calling for "further controls and checks," with officers on foot.

A recent decision was also made to involve retailers and trade associations in a more structured manner. Just yesterday, the mayor met with representatives of the Federation of Public Businesses. The new development involves a more stable form of collaboration between operators and law enforcement. These discussions have been ongoing for weeks within the Noise Abatement Plan Working Group. The Working Group will meet again this week.

The latest incident in the city occurred last night on Corso Vittorio Emanuele , where the owner of a pizzeria was attacked by a group of youths . The attack was reportedly triggered by his intervention to defend a tourist and customer whose bag had been stolen. The restaurateur himself speaks of "widespread fears" among those who work in the center, calling for clear responses from the authorities and increased security.
