Last act of the nuns in Macomer, who leave the Salesian institute after 57 years, which has always been attended by hundreds of children, teenagers, young students, which has become a point of reference for the entire territory in all these years. The municipal administrators greet and thank the nuns for the precious work they have done in the last 57 years.
The delegation led by the mayor Riccardo Uda, together with the vice mayor Maria Luisa Muzzu, the municipal councilor Federico Castori, met the director Sr Graziella Cuccuru, originally from Pozzomaggiore and her Rita Pretti, originally from Lanusei.
Over the next few days, the two nuns will have the task of materially closing the doors of the Institute of the Salesian order, which in 57 years has profoundly marked not only the community of Macomera, but also that of the entire Marghine, deeply influencing the formation and in the growth of entire generations of children.
Says the mayor, Riccardo Uda: «From the world of sport to that of training always faithful to their vocation, which has always favored the commitment towards young people, the presence of the Salesian sisters has represented a fundamental and extraordinary point of reference for Macomer and its people. Today this community loses an important presence to which we also formally wanted to say a big thank you for what it has managed to sow among our boys. We did so aware of bringing, with our greeting, the sentiment of the Macomeresi and hoping that in the future the conditions can be created for their return to our community".
At the end of the meeting there was a hug of thanksgiving, which has a profound meaning. "It is the embrace of the entire community for these extraordinary women - says the mayor - a thank you for what they did, which deserved much more". The issue related to the future of the large structure, built about 60 years ago in the Albano pine forest, which could still host charitable initiatives, was not addressed between the nuns and the municipal administrators.
