A whole year without the Green Train . From Macomer to Bosa Marina, 46 kilometers of narrow-gauge tracks, with wooden sleepers, crossing a breathtaking landscape, aboard a 1913 vintage carriage, in a line now blocked, first by Covid, then by fires of July 2021 and last June by the storm, which seriously damaged the headquarters crossed by the tracks. An immense damage to the economy of Marghine and Planargia . In fact, even in the autumn the little train will remain stationary in the siding , waiting for answers that never come.
«In the last three years we have lost 90% of reservations - says Rossana Muroni , president of the Esedra cooperative, tourist operator in the area - and we have had to cancel all the reservations that arrive from abroad and that we have deservedly won on the Milan tourism exchange . We were guaranteed that the line damaged by the storm of June 2nd would be repaired in a short time. It was not so. We stayed still all summer and now the certainty that the situation will not change even in autumn. We therefore had to cancel the reservations also for the months of September and October. They don't give us answers and we have to give the answers to the European agencies».
The mayor of Macomer, Riccardo Uda , adds: «We have done everything possible to restart the important tourist service, but the tourism councilor has not been able to give us certain answers. The problem could be attributable to whoever has the contract to restore the damaged line».
Apart from the Covid period, the green train had to shorten its route , since in the fire of July 2021 the flames had destroyed the wooden sleepers in the section between Tresnuraghes and Bosa Marina, where the restoration works are still ongoing after two years in progress. In 2022 the train traveled from Macomer to Tresnuraghes only in August and the beginning of September. This year all reservations have been cancelled, also due to the storm that hit the area on June 2nd, which seriously damaged the line and where the restoration works are going slowly. the only tourist line that risks being abandoned and in any case forgotten by everyone.
