The joy of graduating in Cultural Heritage , obtained in just two years at the University of Sassari, for Giorgia Cadeddu of Macomer immediately turned into bitterness. The young woman is convinced that she has suffered a grave injustice, as Ersu, the regional institution for the right to study in Sassari, has denied the degree award, which is usually given to those who obtain it.

«I graduated last year in cultural heritage in Sassari, a year and a semester ahead of the deadline for my course of study . Anyone would think that I deserve scholarships and awards. But no. I simply expected the degree award that everyone usually gets. Nothing more. I waited for some time, waiting to receive the award, but no signal came from Ersu. After many vicissitudes, yesterday I finally managed to speak, by phone, with the general management of the institution. In response to my complaints, I was explicitly told that I am not entitled to any degree award».

Why? The employees of the competent office of Ersu in Sassari answer: «Giorgia Cadeddu is not entitled to any degree award, because she obtained the degree earlier than expected and because she was never enrolled in the third year».

According to Ersu's explanations, the announcement for the award of the degree prize states that the prize is for students enrolled in the third year. So, no way. The young graduate was very disappointed. "It's fair to ask myself if meritocracy exists - says Giorgia Cadeddu - If it doesn't exist, what should we young people do, if talent, skill and commitment are not recognized? In this case I was severely penalized ."

The new graduate would have been entitled to a sum that was certainly not exorbitant, therefore the one that everyone is entitled to after obtaining a degree. "It's not about the money - says the young woman - but I am deeply indignant and I even cried, not seeing all my efforts recognized".
