The intervention of rescue vehicles and personnel, including a helicopter, was of no use in saving an eight-month-old baby girl, who died on the 131, near the nuraghe of Santa Barbara, near Macomer .

The little girl was traveling with her parents, both from Turin . They were spending their holidays in Sardinia . The little girl suffered from a serious illness , and for this reason her parents were returning home to board the ship to Genoa's Porto Torres.

Near Macomer, the little girl's condition worsened, and after stopping at a rest area near the Santa Barbara nuraghe, her parents called for help . Two ambulances from the Macomer Red Cross and a rescue helicopter arrived on the scene, but there was nothing they could do for the little girl. She had stopped breathing in Macomer. A patrol car from the Nuoro traffic police was also on the scene.
