A pre-Nuragic archaeological site discovered by chance in the early 1980s, investigated in 1983 and 2001 and then almost forgotten. It is the hypogean necropolis of Montalè, located close to some buildings, in the Li Punti district of Sassari, made up of six hypogea, which have the same characteristics as the domus de Janas, dug into a limestone counter.
" A site of international interest which, to date, appears to be closed and abandoned to itself ", underlines Marco Dettori, the councilor of Futuro Comune di Sassari, who intervened in the council to report the state of total abandonment in which the necropolis of Montalè is located .
The answer came from the Councilor for the Environment, Antonello Sassu who ensured the restoration of the conditions of decorum. "In a generic way without indicating in what terms" explains Dettori "while from the councilor for Culture grave silence" .
Some areas appear degraded, such as tomb V, the one of greatest interest, due to the presence, in the main room, of architectural and figurative decorations carved in low relief in the rock. «We have treasures of inestimable value » adds the councilor «so it is our duty to protect them, enhance them and make them usable. It is not acceptable that they remain hostage to neglect".
