Not just black: in Sardinia there is also the white truffle, the most prized and delicious in Italy. The land that gave us this fragrant treasure, highly sought after by chefs and sold at its weight in gold on national and international markets, is the clayey one of Sarcidano.
This was also discussed a few days ago in Laconi during a seminar organized by the Confsal union in collaboration with the National Forestry Association led by president Piero Daveri.
Pinuccio Pisu , one of the most expert truffle hunters on the island, but also a breeder of truffle dogs, was also present.
It was he who announced that he had found under the roots of a poplar tree, in Laconi, the highly prized white truffle, the tuber magnatum , which until now was thought to be non-existent in Sardinia and which is also appearing on the market at over 3 thousand euros per kilogram.
A discovery that makes Sardinia, or rather Laconi, an even more attractive destination for truffle lovers.
Pinuccio Pisu, born in 1945, who collected his first truffle when he was 17 years old, believing he was holding a ball of cheese hidden by the shepherds, recounts his greatest discovery: «They were three very close together, white truffles. Paffi, a mixed-breed dog who is now 12 years old, found them. To be sure of what I thought I sent the truffles to Umbria to have them analyzed. I was right." And who knows if sooner or later other treasures like these will emerge.
Many companies from Barracella, numerous truffle hunters and entrepreneurs in the truffle processing and marketing sector also participated in the meeting.
