The Ukrainian flag will fly in Quartu on the facade of the town hall and the former Capuchin monastery. The administration has decided to fly it tomorrow, February 24th, marking the fourth anniversary of the Russian invasion.
Quartu, which has always been committed to the protection of human rights and freedom, a statement reads, "intends to reaffirm the deep bond of friendship that unites the Ukrainian community to the city's social fabric. This relationship has continued, even more strongly in recent years, upholding the values of solidarity, hospitality, and constant support, both from citizens and institutions."
The administration, "believing it is right to show its solidarity on this anniversary, is participating, alongside NAU – Network of Associations for Ukraine, in the initiatives sponsored by the Ukrainian Embassy in the Italian Republic, to ensure that the memory of the thousands of victims does not fade and that attention to the values of democracy remains high."
Yellow and blue "also represent a form of defense of the universal values on which Europe itself is founded. Ukraine is an open wound on the European continent: we must not get used to the idea of war and abuse, but we must continue to show solidarity and defend the fundamental principle of freedom."
