Bulldozers are working to restore the raised ford over the Flumendosa , between Villaputzu and Muravera. The work , as explained by Villaputzu Mayor Sandro Porcu, began this morning and will last several days "due to the fact that the road has been affected by the river's flooding for a long time and there is still a large amount of water. In any case, everything will be completed as quickly as possible."

The raised ford has been closed since January 18th. Since then, residents have been forced to take a long detour to reach Villaputzu: forty kilometers there and back instead of five. This journey is exhausting the residents of Sarrabi, even financially. According to an estimate by the committee for a new bridge, the extra outlay for fuel alone in a month has been over three hundred thousand euros. Furthermore, renovation work on the old bridge has been at a standstill, or almost at a standstill.

In an attempt to unblock the situation (or, at least, to push for the replacement of the company that won the contract), the mayor of Villaputzu has called a protest for March 6th .

"We express deep indignation and serious concern," the Villaputzu municipal administration emphasized, "for yet another delay in terminating the contract with the company currently awarded the contract for the iron bridge. Work has essentially never begun, and, given the responses received in the last few days, it will be even longer before it begins."
