The recovery of a 17-metre-long vessel at a depth of 43 meters is not a simple or everyday operation. And it carries the risk of possible pollution also considering that the vehicle was lying in one of the seabeds of the La Maddalena archipelago national park, off the coast of Caprera.
A few days after her sinking, for reasons still under investigation, the "Vintage" pleasure craft was recovered with a complex operation which required the use of three specialized vessels, two tugs, and the supervision and control of three naval units of the Coast Guard of La Maddalena.
In particular, there was the joint intervention of two companies specialized in the sector, the "Marina di Porto Massimo" of La Maddalena and the "Maritime and building construction" company of Olbia. In order to avoid the risk of pollution, the area has been circumscribed with floating booms. It was a rather complex recovery, made particularly difficult by the great depth at which the boat had sunk, in a stretch of sea characterized, in this still ongoing summer season, by high pleasure boating traffic and in an area , as already underlined, of high environmental value. The Vintage was subsequently towed to a shipyard in Palau to then be beached.
