La Maddalena, the Marina and sailing : a historical link confirmed in these days by the first stage of the “Navy Pink Ribbon Tour, the Sailing Tour of Italy” and by the presence of 100 students from secondary schools in Italy, who participate in the now traditional Summer Sailing Courses.

In fact, from 4 to 14 July, 50 female students (half) and students from secondary schools in Italy will be present at La Maddalena , guests of the Petty Officer School of the Navy, to participate in the now traditional summer sailing courses . The boys were chosen on a meritocratic basis, i.e. on their scholastic results. Another 50 students will participate in the same courses from 18 to 28 July.

The non-commissioned officer school on the island is heir to a long tradition of seafaring, which has its roots in the early nineteenth century, when Admiral Giorgio Andrea Agnès des Geneys set up the Royal Sardinian Navy in La Maddalena, parent of the Navy Italian.

And just in recent days, La Maddalena hosted the first stage of the "Navy Pink Ribbon Tour, the Giro d'Italia Vela" , now in its third edition, organized by Difesa Servizi SpA and SSI Events with the support of the Navy, a great sporting event that is involving, with challenges at sea and opportunities for entertainment on land, various locations on the peninsula (Genoa, La Maddalena, Naples, Vibo Valentia, Taranto, Vieste, San Benedetto del Tronto, Portorose, Venice).

The non-commissioned officers' school of La Maddalena, said the Undersecretary of State, Isabella Rauti , present at the award ceremony of the first stage, is «an excellence for the armed forces, an excellence for military teaching, an excellence for its territorial imprint and also for the training of all those who have chosen the sea not only as a profession but as a passion, as a destiny. Therefore, I cannot imagine a better place for this first stage of the Pink Ribbon regatta».

The Magdalene is still assigned port of Nave Palinuro, a "schooner" armed with three masts, on which the trainee NCOs carry out the necessary training for their training.
