La Maddalena Park without a director: risk of paralysis at the start of the tourist season.

Since last Thursday, April 30, La Maddalena National Park has been without a director: Giulio Plastina (victim a few weeks ago of a shocking incident: the loosening of the wheel nuts on his car), who directed the park for four years, has left the service to move to the same position in Alghero-Tramariglio, at the Porto Conte Regional Natural Park.
A phase of " vacatio sedis " (vacant seat) is now beginning for the Maddalena Park, which essentially translates into a paralysis of the institution, given the basic functions attributed to the director, also considering the fact that we are now at the beginning of the tourist season, which notoriously sees particularly high human pressure exerted on the waters and the territory of the institution, with all the consequences that this entails.
"We're already working on the tender process," says President Rosanna Giudice, "but at the same time, we're already exploring ways to secure the services of an acting director," that is, a director already employed by another organization, who can guide La Maddalena National Park until the arrival (assuming everything goes well after the summer, given that the process isn't a quick one) of the new director.
A temporary solution, therefore, is to find a director already employed by another similar agency who can guarantee their presence at least a few days a week, thus avoiding administrative paralysis within the agency. The director of a national park plays a key role in the management, protection, and enhancement of the protected area. This role is not merely administrative: it coordinates environmental and scientific activities, as well as technical and legal relations with the local area.
For example, he is responsible for issuing permits, overseeing compliance with environmental regulations, coordinating surveillance and control activities, advancing projects and financing, issuing tenders and awarding contracts, ensuring compliance with regulations and specifications, managing personnel, and even signing salary orders.
