Accident at sea this morning in La Maddalena .
A dinghy carrying a 16-year-old boy crashed on the rocks in front of Punta Tegge .

The young man lost consciousness in the impact: transferred first to Olbia with the ambulance and then to the Santissima Annunziata hospital in Sassari, he is now hospitalized in the intensive care unit with a serious head injury after suffering   head surgery.

His 24-year-old cousin was also with him: with various but not serious injuries and traumas, he was accompanied to the Olbia emergency room. He is in a state of shock and for this reason the Coast Guard soldiers will only hear from him tomorrow.

On the spot the Coast Guard of La Maddalena which, after having rescued the wounded, towed the dinghy to the port which was in danger of sinking.

The Prosecutor of Tempio Pausania has started the investigation to establish the causes of the accident. The boys had gone out on a dinghy – impounded – for a sport fishing trip and according to a first hypothesis, they were betrayed by the darkness and the high speed in a stretch of sea surrounded by outcropping rocks and shallows.
