Another step forward towards eliminating kilometric waiting lists.

The Ministry of Health has given the green light to the request of the Region of Sardinia to use part of the resources already allocated for the reduction of waiting times in the agreed healthcare .

There is talk of at least 7 million euros not spent by public health agencies and hospitals, "which will be asked for a greater commitment also in relation to human resources that we will implement with a careful rationalization of the network", declares the new health councilor Carlo Doria.

«We are talking about outpatient services, cancer screening and scheduled surgery for which the private healthcare sector with an agreement will be able to make an important contribution in terms of reducing waiting lists - specifies the commissioner - A support to our health system that falls within the role of complementarity of private health care with respect to public health".

As for the spending ceilings for private healthcare «it will be appropriate to reason at the national level. Much time has passed since the 'spending review' of the Monti government and the scenarios have changed. In our vision, public health will always have a prominent role that cannot be renounced, but it is also important to recognize the complementary role of private healthcare , especially in this historical phase, post pandemic".
