Lack of traceability, irregular detention and incorrect application of self-control procedures. These are the reasons that led the men of the Operations Department of the Financial Police and those of the Cagliari Coast Guard to seize 108 tons of fish products, three of which were donated to charity .

The joint control of Fiamme Gialle and the Captaincy began in recent days. A production and processing plant for food and fish products from outside Europe , especially frozen ones, located in the province of Cagliari, has come under the spotlight.

Inside, 108 tons of irregularly detained product were found and seized, «detecting violations ranging from the lack of traceability of the fish product, to the irregular detention according to the prescribed health standards, as well as the incorrect application of self-control procedures (HACCP) », explain from Gdf and Coast Guard.

Most of the untraceable fish products were declared unfit for consumption by the ASL's Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute and were destroyed . Over 3 tons, with a commercial value of approximately 110 thousand euros, were given to charity and delivered directly to the diocesan Caritas. The initiative received thanks from the archbishop of Cagliari, Giuseppe Baturi.
