Cagliari, the complaint: "Deterioration in Piazza Sant'Eulalia, Municipality and Local Health Authority absent."
The attack by Fdi regional councilor Corrado MeloniPer restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
"After Piazza del Carmine and Via Roma, Piazza Sant'Eulalia has now become one of the most degraded areas of urban decay. Thus, after the irresponsible lifting of the ban on loitering and begging by the Cagliari center-left, the transformation of the historic center of the capital into a Brazilian favela continues." The complaint is signed by Corrado Meloni, regional councilor for the Brothers of Italy party.
"The conditions in Piazza Sant'Eulalia and several sections of Via Roma are yet another demonstration of the failed policies of the center-left municipal administration. Symbolic places of the city, frequented daily by residents, workers, and tourists, have been progressively transformed into makeshift shelters for the homeless , in a context of degradation that denigrates the urban decorum and compromises the quality of life of those who live and work in the neighborhood," Meloni stated.
"Those who pay the highest price," he continues, "are the citizens and businesses of Marina and Stampace, forced to endure this unacceptable degradation on a daily basis: filth, insecurity, urban and social decay."
Furthermore, one would expect a tough and immediate stance from the mayor , who is the highest health authority in the city, towards the Cagliari Local Health Authority. The current situation is not just about public order and social assistance: it also involves clear health and social care issues that the Local Health Authority does not appear, to date, to be sufficiently involved or decisive in managing . I therefore ask the mayor and his majority to assume their responsibilities, to immediately put an end to this policy of laxity, and to intervene urgently and concretely to restore decorum, safety, and livability to Cagliari's historic center.
