Matteo Mocci, 25, a candidate on Cinzia Fenu's list, opposing the mayor's, died in a car accident this evening on his way to work after the vote.

The young man was driving his Fiat Panda to a farmhouse in Sanluri Stato when, for reasons yet to be determined, he collided with a Ford Fiesta driven by a colleague. The accident occurred in the Podere Magnaboschi area. The impact was fatal for Mocci: emergency responders were unable to save him.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 45-year-old from Serramanna, suffered various injuries and was transported to the emergency room with a yellow code assigned.

The news quickly spread to the capital of the Medio Campidano region, where Urpi immediately decided to cancel the re-election campaign .
