The M5s regional councilor Desirè Manca denounces it: «There is never an end to the worst, the Aou of Sassari has authorized the permanence of stretchers in almost all hospital wards . That's right, the stretchers, which should be used exclusively to accompany the sick to the floor, can also remain there for days and replace the additional beds», he says.
The " provision of shame ", as the pentastellata calls it, was adopted last January 10 and concerns "the maximum number of stretchers that can be allocated in the SSA South Pavilion and Internal Medicine Departments".
From 10 January, explains Manca, "three stretchers can be parked in the Medical Clinic, another three in Internal Medicine, as well as in Geriatrics and Medical Pathology ". Again: one in Gastroenterology, two in Emergency Medicine and Nephrology .
A decision taken to decongest the Emergency Room, explains Manca , who observes: « The stretchers that clog the Emergency Room and which should be used to transport patients to the wards are treated as beds. Thus, the chaos will presumably affect the entire hospital ».
And that's not all: in emergencies, if there are over 15 patients in the boarding area of the Emergency Department, "the temporary fourth stretcher in the wards will be authorised".
«In the meantime – ironically Manca returning to an old polemic of his – TVs will be able to broadcast paid films on Sky and employees can enjoy beauty treatments, such as manicures and haircuts, under special agreements.
