After decades of discussions, ideas and projects left on paper, the former Hotel Turritania in Sassari has a certain future : it will be used for housing with the aim of redeveloping and repopulating the historic centre . Objective that is part of the PinQuAm program, the national innovative program for the quality of living. 18 apartments will be built for as many low-income families with multi-purpose spaces for the historic center district, such as an area with children's games, a gym, a small garden and a study room.

At the disposal of the Municipality 5 and a half million euros and the Sassari administration is counting on the 20 percent bonus which therefore increases the budget by a further million for having already announced the tender by 31 December.

The project was presented by architects Mossa and De Rosa this morning at the opening of Mayor Nanni Campus ' end-of-year press conference.

It is a question of recovering a building inaugurated in 1950 which served as a hotel even if the architect Vico Mossa (the father of the professional who drew up the new project) had thought of it precisely with social functions. Decommissioned for five decades, it is prey to decay , even if an attempt was made to hide it seven years ago with the creation of a gigantic turtle by the artist Ericailcane.

Some even proposed its demolition to free up the view of the city. Now it will be reborn with the original idea of a residential home for those in need.
