The protest takes place in Saccargia, in Viale Trento the reverse gear is engaged, on the slopes of Monte Arcosu, however, the race against time begins. The history of the Island of the Wind and the Sun travels in opposite times and directions. The march of the committees is on a collision course with the infinite times of the institutions, stranded on the quicksand of always wait-and-see and transitory rules.

It's just business

On this island under constant attack from energy speculation, only business runs, from north to south of the land of the Nuraghi, as if lobbies and fixers were in a hurry to "redeem" as soon as possible the bundle of incentives and millionaire earnings achieved with last-minute authorizations. 'Now. There is no point in hiding the reality of the facts: since the institutions have been agitating without achieving anything, the race to bring the renewables slot machines home as soon as possible has been unleashed. The lords of the wind and the sun on the one hand try to make the most of the Palace's wait-and-see attitude, they delude themselves that wasting time will ultimately allow them to collect all the loot, on the other, however, they fear that the force of the mobilization will can make us lose everything with real prohibitions and constraints.

“Cock”

The renewable "coup" in the land of Sardinia is taking place without obstacles, given that no concrete measures have been adopted so far. The same restriction issued at a national level for photovoltaics in these parts is waste paper. If it were also effective for the Sardinian Region, which, however, has primary responsibility for urban planning, nothing would be blocked on the island, given that that rule is without prejudice to all the projects already presented, making Sardinia a real "free zone". ” due to the disfigurement of the silicon. That procrastination by the Palaces of Power seems to have triggered an unprecedented operation with implications that take on international significance considering that every corner of the island is literally under assault by an unprecedented load of photovoltaic panels.

Trucks lined up

To realize this, no evidence is needed, just enter the road network on the slopes of the Cervo Oasis, on Mount Arcosu, between the Santa Gilla salt pans and the Uta countryside. The row of articulated lorries loaded with silicon arriving from the Far East is located in the extreme outskirts of the industrial area of Macchiareddu, close to the most famous brewery. They stay there for hours, as if they were waiting to board. In reality they have just arrived from Xi Jinping's China at the Canal Port of Cagliari. Eight kilometers and I'm already at my destination. If you look at the horizon of the wind turbines it is a moment to glimpse the new Chinese Wall on Sardinian land.

Made in China

Hundreds and hundreds of pallets of photovoltaic panels, enclosed in cardboard marked "Made in China", an infinite stack, all aligned and overlapping for hundreds of metres, as if they had to overlook the entire mouth of the Cixerri and Fluminimannu. One might also think that they decided to store them in Sardinia while waiting for better landing places, but the frenzy surrounding the area does not suggest an occasional stop. In reality, interpreting the historical moment, Americans, Italian and foreign multinationals in general, have decided that no time must be wasted: every empty space must be covered with Chinese panels, making the once agricultural areas of Uta and Assemini the largest concentration of photovoltaic panels in the Mediterranean.

Nefarious situation

What is taking place in Sardinia is a devastating international situation: on the one hand China has reached an unprecedented production surplus of photovoltaic panels, impossible to dispose of even for the People's Republic of China, on the other Europe and Italy in particular, they have decided to leave the field open to the invasion of those panels banned by the United States, sold in Sardinia at rock-bottom prices, with further stratospheric profits for the speculators on duty. This can only explain the fact that between the mega prison of Uta and the outskirts of Capoterra a relentless demolition of all the original photovoltaic systems has begun to make room for the new low-cost "Made in China" panels, theoretically more "high-performing" and capable, therefore, of making the incentive and energy counter spin like a top.

Slavery panels

It's a shame that those panels, however, come directly from the land of human exploitation, the subject of an unprecedented investigation at an international level. It is enough to read those indelible marks, those origins traced in hieroglyphics and translated into the international language, to understand that these are precisely the Chinese majors who have come under accusation for the mistreatment of workers segregated in the assembly lines in the most distant suburbs of greater China. Under accusation are the Chinese factories that are selling their panels hands down to speculators in Sardinia.

Under investigation

The marks of the gigantic Sardinian landing have all ended up in very heavy investigations starting from the American Department of Justice which has highlighted the dark side of the boom in "Made in China" solar panels: the exploitation of Chinese workers enslaved. All put in black and white by international agencies: there is a close connection between the assembly line of the Chinese solar industry and the cruelest persecution of the Uighur ethnic minority in Xinjiang . A place marked in all the products landed in the West, given that half of the world's polysilicon is in fact produced precisely in those places marked by the infamy of mistreatment.

Denials and confirmations

The Chinese government denies everything: it only confirms that 2.6 million citizens of minor ethnic groups ( Uyghurs and Kazakhs ) have been "placed" on farms and factories in Xinjiang on the basis of state programs relating to the so-called "labour surplus" and “labour transfer”. The latest international agency to have dealt with the case, last April, claims that 45% of the world supply of a key component in the production of panels, namely polysilicon, would be produced in the Chinese region of Xinjiang . Xi Jinping 's regime speaks openly of voluntary transfers of these workers, but confidential reports speak of a gigantic forced transfer of labor in a climate of very heavy coercion aggravated by the nefarious threat of re-education and internment.

US Report

The Americans speak of a real "enslavement" of entire ethnic groups of the Chinese population, all with the stamp of Chinese-style legality. The US initiated the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act to prevent the exploitation of these populations and at the same time deployed sky-high tariffs to try to protect American industry from dumping, the export of goods at very low costs and from non-competitive practices. Europe, however, is watching. It is no coincidence that among the thousands of pallets unloaded on Sardinian soil one can occasionally read the Chinese brand accompanied by a production residence in the tax haven of Liechtenstein, just a few European-style agreements, with the deployment of fake assembly plants to divide the profits of exploitation.

Solar waste

Finally, the old silicon panels accumulated for months on the sides of the immense photovoltaic fields on the slopes of Monte Arcosu. Forgotten industrial waste, as if there was no pre-established destination yet. The disposal of these polluting materials is the subject of various investigations: many of these loads cross the sea, but more than once they do not reach the other shore. Being vigilant in this case too is a moral duty. New shadows on the great energy speculation in Sardinia.
