A box cutter was held to the throat to rob a young man on the Brabau bridge, between Cabras and Oristano. Then, the raid took place among parked cars in the capital. There were two men, and police identified and transferred to Quartucciu prison one of the alleged perpetrators of the series of crimes committed on the evening of October 26th. He is a 19-year-old Algerian, then a resident of the Cabras reception center for minors, and was caught thanks to the description of the first victim and images from numerous CCTV systems in the area.

The young man from Oristano who was the victim of the robbery was walking home along the road between Oristano and Cabras when, near the Brabau bridge, he was approached by two youths on electric scooters. One of the two, after stopping him on a pretext, held a box cutter to his throat and, after taking his cell phone, emptied his backpack in search of money (which was missing).

Immediately after the robbery, the two headed towards Oristano where they carried out several thefts and attempted thefts from cars parked along the city streets.

The immediate investigation launched by investigators from the Oristano Police Headquarters' Flying Squad was based primarily on the young victim's testimony and the analysis of images recorded by the numerous video surveillance systems in the area.

Footage acquired from various systems allowed investigators to follow, frame by frame, the movements of the two young men, the route they took before and after the robbery, and during the raid in Oristano. Cross-referencing the footage with additional evidence gathered during the investigation allowed them to quickly identify one of the alleged perpetrators: he was found in a reception center in the Sassari area, where he had since been transferred.

According to reports, the 19-year-old Algerian arrived in Sant'Antioco in July. He was taken to the Monastir center and then transferred to Cabras because he had documents proving he was a minor. During the investigation, his true age emerged, as well as evidence that he may be responsible for other crimes committed in San Sperate and Cagliari.

His arrest led him first to the Sassari prison and then to the juvenile penitentiary in Quartucciu, where he is currently held at the disposal of the judicial authorities.

Meanwhile, the Flying Squad's investigations continue to identify the second young man involved in the robbery.
