The art of knowing how to create symbols, drawings in the sand that capture attention and curiosity.

On the beach of Platamona this time the Nuoro sculptor Nicola Urru wanted to imprint the image of a "witch in the land", Sardinia, a territory where in history, as elsewhere, alleged witches have been hunted.

«We remember 105 women accused of witchcraft, - says the artist - considered capable of actions that would have damaged the community. Fortunately, the sanctions applied were mild compared to the rest of Europe and consisted of the confiscation of assets, a few years in prison or exile."

The sand sculpture on the Sorso coast also recalls that historical period. An interesting trial was the one brought by the Turritan archbishop Lorca against Caterina Curcas, of Castel Aragonès, when during the hearings, the woman confessed to having been partying with the devil in a forest between Castelsardo and Sedini. She was sentenced to one year in prison and exile.

Another woman, Angela Calvia di Sedini, was tried in 1578: she confessed her relationships with the gentleman dressed in green and black, but often naked.
