An illegal colony of cats, which have reproduced and "grazed" freely for at least 4-5 years.

The residents of viale Fra Ignazio in Sant'Antioco have been denouncing it for some time. Dozens of strays, explains Cristina Ganea, owner of an apartment in the condominium, " are fed by two elderly people who live on the ground floor , without ever registering the colony and carrying out the necessary veterinary checks". All this "despite the various reports to the local police, which intervened without any results".

The condominiums, he continues, "have tried several times to have a dialogue with the gentlemen to register the colony and follow the various formalities but with a categorical refusal on their part, despite this, they continue to behave like masters with the felines. The situation is becoming unsustainable for the condominiums and is creating many inconveniences and tensions. Following the cleaning of the gardens and the parking lot, around 9kg of faeces were collected, rejected by the eco-centre ».

In the public condominium garden «they have created a sort of shelter with rubbish where the cats reproduce, give birth and do their business everywhere. With the arrival of the heat, the smell of urine, faeces and dirt spread throughout the condominium environment both inside the apartments and on the stairs. In my family there is a person with various allergies and he is forced to take cortisone and antihistamines because cats urinating on cars cause allergic attacks in him ».

"With this desperate and unpleasant situation - is the final appeal - I ask for the intervention of the competent authorities such as Ats Sardegna veterinary service, the local police of Sant'Antioco, Zoophile Guard, Animal Protection and the Municipality of Sant'Antioco".
