Work began today for the construction of another five new raised pedestrian crossings in the streets of Quartu Sant'Elena .

The purpose is twofold: on the one hand to allow pedestrians to cross safely, on the other to induce motorists to slow down. The intervention is included in the asphalt contract and therefore concerns the roads that have been re-tarnished in recent months.

For this reason, the extremely dangerous stretch of viale Colombo, a few steps from the roundabout with via Marconi, where accidents are the order of the day and where one hardly ever stops to let pedestrians pass, instead passing at high speed, talking on the phone or even texting. In via Fiume there will be two crossings: one in front of the kindergarten, one a few meters further on.

«The location», explains Antonello Casiddu, agent of the Traffic and Viability sector, «was studied ad hoc. First of all, they are equidistant and furthermore they have been placed where there are no water connections, manhole covers or manhole covers, because they could have created problems». So here are the two crossings in via Della Musica at the level of the entrances to the park, in via Don Giordi and at the height of via Parini and one in via S'Arrulloni at the level of via Mozart, near the school.
