Tightened in a circle around the white coffin, for the last hug to Marika Soru, the young girl from Porto Torres, who died of a sudden illness at just 16 years old.

White and yellow flowers and his smile in the photo on the coffin. Outside and inside the church a river of people. In the parish of the Holy Spirit many very young people. They wanted to say goodbye for the last time to the young woman, who died on Friday evening, January 19th, taken from life too quickly.

Someone was wearing a shirt with the words “Ciao Marikuzza” written on it, as they used to call it, a nice way to show their affection.

"It is not easy to find the right words in the face of such a tried family and such great pain, if not those of the Lord, the only ones we can trust", are the words of comfort pronounced by the priest, Don Boniface Da. «Love conquers all, let's leave our hearts open to hope because Marika has not died forever but lives forever in our hearts».

A greeting also came from Don Salvatore Ruiu, the parish priest who, although not present, expressed his closeness, recalling his baptism, the sacraments of communion and confirmation received from the priest.

In the church there is a composed silence, there are those who dry their tears and embrace the person next to them. The pain is immense. For her father Sandro, for her little sister, for her friends and for all those who met her in their lives.

That smile of his remained imprinted on his teachers and the school director Antonella Falchi, and on his classmates in the third class of the Sassari Hotel Institute. Inside the church also the athletes of Porto Torres Volley, the volleyball club that Marika's sister attended.

The final blessing is followed by an ideal embrace of all the children around the coffin as if they wanted to keep it next to them forever. It says more than any other word. Outside the sweet notes of the Ave Maria sung in front of the coffin, the balloons launched into flight and the roar of the engines, a last gift for Marika who loved motorbikes.

Father Sandro wanted to thank everyone, in particular the neighbourhood, the 118 staff who intervened on the evening of the tragedy, as well as the carabinieri of the Porto Torres company.
