A large fire in the center of the Comita atrium instilled warmth in the faithful who witnessed the evocative blessing and the rite of "Lu Fogaroni di Sant'Antoni" was also performed in Porto Torres.

The feast of Sant'Antonio Abate had been postponed due to bad weather, an initiative organized by the cultural association Intragnas which took care of the details of a traditional event, held in collaboration with the basilica of San Gavino and the Municipality of Porto Torres.

The community did not want to give up the lighting of the great bonfire, a fire donated to men and blessed by Monsignor Antonio Tamponi, vicar general of the Archdiocese of Sassari, together with Monsignor Salvatore Masia, parish priest of the basilica of San Gavino and the mayor, Massimo Mulas. The celebration in the center of the square between the Cumbessias and the ancient walls of the Romanesque church, a meeting like a fusion of souls, a unique atmosphere for children and adults enraptured by the charm of fire, symbol of union.

The faithful went around three times to purify the new year and drive away the negativity of the old one that had just passed, they took the opportunity to sing and serve pancakes, chickpea-based dishes or other dishes accompanied by wine. It all ended in style, and as soon as the flames subsided, the ritual of jumping the fire was carried out to become cummari and cumpari di fogaroni, moments of aggregation to consolidate friendships.
