Body cam on local police officers and system implemented with license plate reading cameras, repositionable cameras and drones. These are just some of the innovations introduced with the regulation for the regulation of video surveillance for urban security in Nuoro which will come into force in ten days.

The document, approved by Commissioner Giovanni Pirisi, transposes the EU regulation and the European directive which govern the methods of collection, processing, storage and access to personal data through the video surveillance system. The regulation allows the involvement of private individuals for the creation of individual video surveillance systems, oriented in any case on public roads, following an assessment of the suitability of the devices for urban security purposes. The images may be kept for a period of at least 7 days and this period may be extended upon request of the judicial authority.

The current video surveillance system in the city can count on 110 cameras and the activity of the municipal administration is aimed at guaranteeing the liveability and decorum of the city.
