From a large room, packed beyond belief, young people from all parts of the island are asking for the reform of youth policies and therefore the creation of a regional department of reference.

In Macomer they exposed two particular needs: to modify the financing mechanism of youth activities, often marginalized, dependent on other organizations or forced into activities that are not in keeping with youth policies. «The second - says Gian Luca Atzori, at the helm of the regional network of consultations -: we need to dispel the stereotype that there are no resources for young people in communities, when most municipalities do not spend a good part of European funds, millions of euros ».

There is therefore a lack of valid projects and innovative ideas. «An appeal addressed in particular to all young Sardinians - underlines Rebecca Pisanu, coordinator of the southern Sardinian councils - who would like to build their lives on this land, but see fewer and fewer possibilities. The opportunities are there and they come through moments like these."

In the second part of the day there was a discussion on the reform of youth policies currently under discussion in the regional council, with the representatives of the youth councils who spoke with the regional councilors, local administrators and youth organizations. Fausto Piga, from Fratelli d'Italia, the first signatory of the reform law, and Laura Caddeo from Alleanza Rosso-Verde were present, as well as Diego Loi and Alessandro Solinas. «A priority of the consultation movement - says Emanuele Orrù, coordinator of the consultations of the Oristano area - is that the law welcomes our additions and passes in a bipartisan manner and without exploitation linked to parties and the electoral campaign, because we have been working on it for more than 11 years. years". It has been established that the councils should have a statute and produce a programmatic document. «Tessiu is a term that recalls the weaving of the traditional Sardinian carpet - says Chiara Zanza, president of the councils of northern Sardinia - was born from the drafting of a charter of the youth councils of Sardinia through the signing of a memorandum of understanding». Umberto Guiso, coordinator of the consultations of the provinces of Nuoro and Ogliastra: «The meeting focused on numerous problems of the new generations, together with the opportunities offered by ecological transition and the Pnrr. Too often we hear that we are the future, but the future is built in the present, it is built now, not tomorrow."
