Illegal hunting, bird nets seized in Quartu and Maracalagonis
The structures were promptly removed
A bird netting, about 3x1.5 meters in size and positioned between two olive trees, for the illegal capture of birds, was discovered yesterday in Quartu Sant'Elena by the carabinieri of the Cites Group - "Soarda" Operational Department.
Given the flagrant nature of the crime, the network was removed and its consequent criminal seizure.
Still on the same day in the municipality of Maracalagonis, in the locality of "Lianu", during a territorial control service aimed at the prevention and repression of hunting crimes, carabinieri of the same group, while walking along a mountain path in a wooded area, discovered, positioned between two trees, another 3x2 meter birding net, in which a carcass of song thrush (turdus philomelos) was entangled.
The military patrolled the surrounding area to see if there were any additional nets, but the checks gave negative results.
The facility was removed and seized.
