Large illegal gathering of campers in a protected area, inside the Gutturu Mannu Regional Park .
The Forestry Corps of the Territorial Service of Cagliari has issued 40 fines against 20 people for illegal camping and illegal parking in a protected area for a gathering organized between 31 December 2024 and 3 January 2025 .
The event, called “Radunazzo” , was documented and promoted on social media. The participants, coming from different parts of the island and the rest of Italy, occupied an area that was not equipped and not intended for camper parking, transforming it into an illegal campsite that continued for days on the occasion of last New Year's Eve. The vehicles were also parked outside the permitted forest road network, thus impacting the protected area.
The total amount of the fines amounts to 4 thousand euros, to be precise 100 for each individual dispute .
The Forestry Corps reminds that throughout the regional territory there is an absolute ban on camping outside of specially equipped areas, regardless of the type of equipment used. Furthermore, in the woods of Sardinia and in the related clearings, transit and parking of vehicles outside of existing tracks is always prohibited.
