"From Cagliari for Ilaria Salis" is the committee born in the city to ask that the woman, detained in Hungary, be able to return home and which gathered a large crowd of Cagliari men and women in Piazza Garibaldi shouting "Free Ilaria".

An idea born from classmates who shared the years of Siotto high school with Roberto, Ilaria's father, firmly convinced that even in Sardinia it is necessary to make the voice of solidarity and support for Ilaria's fight heard and of his family for the respect of his rights.

As is known, Ilaria Salis continues to be imprisoned in the maximum security prison in Budapest for over a year now. The next hearing in the trial is scheduled for March 28 in Budapest.

«A year of imprisonment in a country where, according to the main humanitarian organizations, the rights of prisoners are not guaranteed and democracy is limited day after day by Orban's liberticidal laws. We are worried about Ilaria, we are worried about her safety and about the outcomes of a process contaminated by the anti-democratic ideology of the Hungarian institutions."

For the protesters, the Italian government has underestimated what is happening to the detriment of our compatriot. «We consider the responses of the Italian Ministers Tajani and Nordio insufficient because they give the impression that the value of human rights does not correspond to that of the Constitution. Ilaria Salis cannot be discriminated against as she is anti-fascist and her freedom cannot be sacrificed on the altar of political games between "friendly" governments." And for this reason they ask the Italian Government and the European Institutions to take action with the utmost urgency.

Together with the "From Cagliari for Ilaria Salis" Committee there are also various associations, groups, movements and political parties.
