This is the sentence negotiated before the Cagliari magistrate Roberto Cau by a 58-year-old from Fluminimaggiore, a motorist accused of having hit and killed with his car, in February 2021, Antonio Congiu, an 85-year-old from Iglesias, who was crossing the road at the pedestrian crossing to go to buy bread.

In his sentence, the judge also imposed the additional sanction of suspension of the driving license for one year on the accused.

This was reported by Studio3A-Valore SpA, a company in the damage compensation field, which assisted the victim's family in the proceedings.

The 58-year-old was accused, as stated in the indictment, of having caused the elderly man's death «through negligence, imprudence and incompetence and failure to comply with the articles. 141 and 191 of the Highway Code, having not maintained an adequate speed for the characteristics and conditions of the road (inhabited center with various intersections and pedestrian crossings) and having failed to stop to give priority to the pedestrian who was passing on the pedestrian crossing, hitting him" .
