"I parked the car in the hospital's internal garden. My attention was drawn by large bags of rubbish and at that point, since I had to go to the CUP but there was a long line, I took a little tour of the area. I never thought I would find so much abandonment: rubbish, premises colonised by pigeons that have nested even where the local pharmacy warehouse is, rubbish of various kinds".

The anonymous report of a user of the Santa Barbara hospital in Iglesias, accompanied by a flood of photographs, shows a truly absurd situation in front of which even the ASL management, called for a comment, announces immediate checks and cleaning actions.
The area
The path taken by the user is the one taken if you enter from the first access coming from via San Leonardo: there is a barrier that blocks access to unauthorized people but you can enter to accompany a disabled person, children or other types of users. You only need to go a few dozen meters to notice the first bags of waste that have attracted the attention of those who reported the state of abandonment.

Approaching the Nephrology area the indecent spectacle continues and then, entering the area where the staff has access (but no one stopped the user), you really find everything from areas completely covered in pigeon guano to the rooms where a fire, several years ago, forced the ASL to give up numerous rooms of the hospital. Those rooms have never been renovated and are now the kingdom of pigeons that have squeezed into every possible space, unfortunately reaching even areas in use.
The pharmacy
The pharmacy warehouse is the one that has caused the most amazement in those who have found themselves documenting the state of the premises. Pigeons have also nested in a false ceiling where some panels have been detached for some time and so now we have to deal with the presence of birds among the shelves and boxes. A situation of abandonment that clashes with the total cleanliness of the CUP area, the mortuary (closed) and the nearby areas. But in just a few steps, even just to go and retrieve a car parked behind the building, you find waste, processing residues in large bags and other objects abandoned by uncivilized people who have certainly taken advantage of the degradation to do their part".
"This is an area where access is prohibited to unauthorized persons, but it is still a situation that will be remedied," announced the management of the ASL. "A pigeon disinfestation intervention was requested on January 29th and all the waste will be eliminated."
