«Holed iron beams», this is why the bridge between Muravera and Villaputzu was closed

The iron beams that support the bridge are completely punctured , also due to the salt coming from the sea (a few kilometers away). For this reason, the bridge that connects Villaputzu with Muravera was closed last December 8 by the Province of Southern Sardinia.

The gravity of the situation has emerged in recent days at the end of the sandblasting carried out by the company responsible for renovating the bridge. «It is enough to see the state of degradation of the iron – explained the Provincial Commissioner Mario Mossa – to understand that it was necessary to immediately close it to traffic . I say this without controversy, despite the many attacks I have received."

The renovation work on the bridge will continue until at least June 2025 . In the meantime, we are awaiting the construction of a new junction on the state road 125 var.
