Highway Code, new rules flop in Cagliari
Lots of drivers on their cell phones, almost no one wearing a helmet on a scooterPer restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
The teenage boy who does a wheelie on his scooter on Via XX Settembre at midday, without wearing a helmet (which is already mandatory for everyone), seems like an isolated case.
Driving around Cagliari on the day the new highway code comes into force, you discover that it is only the tip of the iceberg: in Piazza Yenne the delivery man uses his scooter (without a helmet, needless to say) to transport bags and parcels, in Via Roma, at lunchtime in the middle of the traffic caused by the entrance to the stadium for the Cagliari match, there are many who use their cell phones and start to call, text, or make videos to post on social media .
Yet they risk fines of up to 1,400 euros and, in some cases, the suspension of their license from 7 to 15 days. "Not even stopped at the traffic light?" asks a woman stopped in front of the Town Hall waiting for the green light.
Then there are the speed lovers : on Viale Colombo, on the Arginale, on Via Lungosaline, on Viale Ferrara, the average speed (almost) never drops below 100 kilometres per hour.
Finally, those who "burn" the red lights. The record, yesterday morning, is two cars, one after the other, in via Bacaredda.
