Six years' imprisonment. It is the "exemplary" sentence inflicted on a man who ended up on trial for a fire set in the countryside of Sant'Antioco in August 2013, when the flames set up 15 hectares of land in smoke.

After the start of the investigation, the arsonist was discovered and reported to the Judicial Authority by the investigative unit of the Iglesias Forestry Corps.

After ten years from the facts, the judicial proceeding that saw him accused ended up in Cassation, which confirmed the sentence of the Court of Cagliari.

Additional penalties are added to the six years' imprisonment: perpetual disqualification from public office and legal disqualification during the sentence.

The man, a resident of Sant'Antioco, will also have to compensate the Region of Sardinia with 40 thousand euros , which had formed a civil party in the trial.
