Of the healthcare services skipped due to the Covid-19 pandemic, only 34 percent were recovered in Sardinia in 2022. The Italian average, on the other hand, stands at 65 percent.

In short, the island, according to an analysis by the Gimbe Foundation, ranks among the last four regions together with Friuli Venezia Giulia (19 percent), Calabria (18 percent), and Campania (10 percent).

For Sardinia, in detail, the percentage of recovery of planned surgical hospitalizations is equal to 29% (Italy 66%), that of recovery of invitations to cancer screening is equal to 56% (data from Italy 82%) and the percentage of recovery of cancer screening services is equal to 44% (Italy 67%). Only 10% of outpatient services have been recovered in the post-pandemic compared to 57% in Italy and only 1% is commissioned by accredited private structures (data from Italy 29%).

While as far as outpatient services are concerned, the recovery is equal to 10 percent (in the rest of the peninsula it reaches 57 percent on average), therefore Sardinia is in the penultimate place.

Lastly, the Gimbe Foundation highlights the percentage of the funding reported compared to that assigned: for the Island (also in this case penultimate among the regions) it is equal to 26% while in Italy it rises to 69%.
