Healthcare in Sardinia in collapse: Usb in the square to ask for stabilization and rights
Regional representative Gianfranco Angioni: «A cry of alarm to put an end to this situation»A protest, yet another, that wants to shake the foundations of a struggling regional health system. It is with this objective that the Unione Sindacale di Base (USB) of the Health sector in Sardinia is demonstrating in front of the Ares Sardegna headquarters in Cagliari. Not a simple request for clarification, but " a cry of alarm to put an end to a situation that has left hundreds of social-health workers and health professionals "unused" and with no prospects of stabilization , despite having served during one of the most difficult periods in recent history", highlights the regional representative Gianfranco Angioni.
The USB forcefully demands concrete answers and programmatic commitments: on the one hand, the renewal of contracts and the stabilization of precarious workers and on the other, the scrolling of rankings to guarantee the legitimate right to stable employment . And all this while the Sardinian health system continues to suffer from a chronic lack of personnel, with salaries that remain the lowest in Italy. "The right to health and care for Sardinians is undermined by a system that struggles to guarantee essential services," Angioni reiterates.
Among the union's requests, the establishment of specialist networks for oncology, diabetology and mental health, together with the strengthening of local and primary care medicine, interventions necessary to reduce unsustainable waiting lists. Furthermore, the USB underlines that without structural investments and a modernization of technological parks, regional healthcare is destined to collapse .
And if the demands are not accepted? " The union is already ready to intensify the mobilization: the next appointment is set for October 31st with a general strike that promises to be combative", concludes Angioni.
