Luigi Patella was the name of the man who died in the night following an accident in Senorbì. The 39-year-old, originally from Casarano (Lecce) and serving in the Air Force in Perdasdefogu for about a month, was traveling on a Lancia Y that collided with an Audi A3 driven by a 20-year-old with 4 other peers on board headed for Barrali .

In via Carlo Sanna, around 11 pm, the frontal crash, which occurred due to causes under investigation by the Carabinieri of Dolianova, but from the first elements it seems to have been at high speed and very violent. The Audi, after some head and tail, finished the race off the road, tens of meters away, the Lancia Y crumpled up. Patella, stuck between the sheets, was extracted by the fire brigade but any rescue proved useless, the other boys were taken to the Brotzu hospitals in Cagliari and San Gavino.
