He allegedly pocketed money for projects and building renovations that were not realized. For this reason, engineer Giovanni Casali, a Sardinian from La Maddalena with a professional past (with mixed success) also in Cagliari, ended up in the crosshairs of Striscia La Notizia.
The professional was at the center of a satirical news report by Chiara Squaglia, who managed to get close to him thanks to a subterfuge: Casali, who has artistic ambitions that he has satisfied in the past through participation in various programs (such as “Splendida cornice” with Geppi Cucciari and Forum), was convinced that he had been called to a Milanese studio for an audition in which he would have to sing.
But while he was testing himself with “Sarà perché ti amo” (It will be because I love you), the correspondent of Striscia appeared and accused him of having pocketed money for work that was never carried out. In the meantime, testimonies were broadcast from some people who said they had handed over several thousand euros – one document even speaks of 40 thousand – for procedures that did not go well. Indeed: they would have created further economic damage to those who had entrusted Casali with their work.
The engineer, at the sight of the correspondent of the broadcast, took to his heels: a brisk run, until he hid behind a wall. Here he was caught and decided to defend himself, claiming that the work would have been finished for everyone and that the money that had been given to him had been withheld because it was "committed".
The service ended, leaving it to be understood that a further episode could follow. In the meantime, testimonies have also emerged from Cagliari, from users who had relied on the same engineer: at least one case ended up in court.
