Illegal weapons and modified ammunition. This is what the Carabinieri found in the Iglesias Operations Unit on the land of a 58-year-old local man. The man was arrested and is now under investigation for possession, alteration and manufacturing of clandestine weapons. The discovery was made with the support of the operators of the Squadrone Eliportato Cacciatori di Sardegna and the help of the Guardia di Finanza dog units, during an operation aimed at combating drug dealing.
The military discovered that the suspect had hidden several homemade firearms on a piece of land owned by him. In particular, hidden inside a metal box buried under a pile of bricks, they found a blank pistol altered and made potentially lethal with a modification that allows it to fire small-caliber shots, two homemade “rifle tubes”, modified ammunition and several 12-gauge cartridges.
At the end of the searches, the man was transferred to the Uta prison at the disposal of the Judicial Authority, in the meantime the investigations continue to trace the origin of the weapons.
