He was caught off guard by a thick bank of fog which made him lose his bearings while he was at sea in front of Torre Grande. The Christmas mishap for a man from Oristano had a happy ending thanks to the intervention of the Coast Guard.

The rescue operations started yesterday around 11.30: it was the canoeist himself who asked for help, with a telephone call to the switchboard of the Captaincy.

The operations room, without ever losing contact, sent a patrol boat to the area, with a crew specialized in sea searches on board.

Despite the poor visibility due to the fog present in the area, the victim was intercepted about half a mile off the coast and rescued.

The Coast Guard of Oristano, with a note, recalls "how fundamental it is, for all users of the sea, the necessary consideration due to the marine weather conditions and their expected evolution as well as a careful preliminary verification of the conditions of effectiveness of the nautical means ”.
