Tragedy in the early afternoon in the waters of Carloforte.

Enrico Cau, a fifty-year-old from Portoscuso, was heading to the island of San Pietro with his boat when, probably due to illness, he fell into the water and died.

The body was recovered by employees of the nearby tuna factory: the alarm was raised immediately but there was nothing more that could be done for the man.

In a last-ditch rescue attempt, the rescue helicopter also took off from Cagliari, but returned empty.
